Glasspar Serial Number Coding was created by Terrydi

Hello George,

I did have the second page. I downloaded this from the site many years ago and I’m always surprised that I can actually find it when I need it.

Thank you, Terry!

Hopefully, I'll be able to find these files in the future. Again, didn't realize we had any info on the Larson year Glasspars.

That is a different number. Haven't seen one like that.

Rod-B is kind of our local expert on the serial numbers having done a lot of research on the subject. I would think the the "C" is for Citation. Other models have used a "C" for custom, but the 1962 Citation did not have a custom model.

I remember Rod stating at one point Glasspar changed the serial numbers using the city of the plant vs. the state. But still your "A" doesn't relate to any plant city in 1962. As far as I know, Glasspar had plants in:

Santa Ana, California
Olympia, Washington
Nashville, Tennessee
Sherman, Texas
Colonial Heights, Virginia
Sturgis, Michigan

On your "L", are you sure it's not a "1"? I believe we have seen four digit production numbers before for boats that had been produced later in the year.

Curious...and still learning something everyday...

Included some scans from the 1962 brochures that I have:

I have been under the impression that the "A" as plant of origin stood for Santa Ana. I remember seeing that mentioned several times here though I don't have a link to show that.

JR,

You might be right. I wondered that when I was writing the response to Woodlund. Seems like Rod doesn't come around very often anymore, but I might need to try and track him down for clarification.
